Latin of the fortress - guided tour and translation work shop
LycéesThe Museum Dräi Eechelen preserves several inscriptions written in Latin which commemorate the construction of different parts of the Luxembourg fortress in the 17th and 18th centuries. A playful and interactive journey to discover these inscriptions is offered to students studying Latin at an intermediate or advanced level. Depending on the level of the class, different activities offer the opportunity for students (in groups or individually) to put their knowledge into practice under the guidance of a qualified latin speaking guide: deciphering of the inscribed texts, grammatical and lexical questionnaires, translation of the inscriptions... and, to crown the visit, the discovery of the Latin epitaph of the tomb of Mansfeld, duke of the Luxembourg Renaissance.
