A tour from one tower to another

Duration: 2 h 30 min

This journey starts at the “Fëschmaart” from the National Museum of History and Art and leads via the Alzette valley to the Dräi Eechelen Museum in Kirchberg. On the way, students see several towers: the Three Towers (12th-14th c.), the semicircular towers of the Wenceslas city wall (late 14th c.), the Spanish turrets (mid-17th c.), the Vauban Towers (1684-1685) at Pfaffenthal and the crenelated turrets of the Fort Thüngen redoubt (1836). Students learn about the functions of these towers and the reasons why they have been preserved and incorporated into modern urbanism after the dismantling of the fortress.
